Sewed my own Prom Dress?

Yes, I sewed my own Junior Prom Dress! How much did it cost me? $40 Was it hard and difficult? Oh yes. Did I make it in one week? Yes. Now don't think that I'm this crazy seamstress by night. I learned to sew when I was 8 years old-only to make clothes for my barbies because the hot glue gun just wasn't working out for me anymore ya feel? Only me? ok... So anyway my experience in sewing for my barbies or taking in clothes to fit nicer. But if you know me I like a challenge. But I couldn't have done any of this without the guidance from my mom (who is an incredible seamstress by the way)
So why did I sew my own prom dress in the first place?
MODESTY!!!
I looked everywhere, my mom looked everywhere, my dog looked everywhere and we just could not find a cute, modest, style forward dress under $100! no matter how many boutiques, there was always that, "too low cut" "too short" "unflattering" "3 girls already have that dress" "not formal enough" "Charity, stop looking at Elli Saab you have to be practical!!" I felt defeated until my mom joked I should make my own. Don't tempt me mother, I've made a whopping few hot glue gun felt dresses in my life, I am very qualified thank you.
THE PROCESS
We went to the store, I bought fabric and a pattern and followed the instructions perfectly (with a few modifications of my own). Surprising thing is, sewing is easy but the CUTTING is the hardest part!! It was done in a week! And it was entirely my own design, my own touch, $40 silk taffeta dress. Never again will I spend hundreds of hours online shopping because in the time to find one I could've made my own :)
PROM
Prom was magical! I went with prince charming and had the best night ever!! It was so exciting to go and tell people I sewed my dress myself and knowing that no one in the room could possibly have my dress or anything like it.
